Parents pay heartbreaking tribute to two-week-old baby killed in Brownhills crash
The parents of a two-week-old baby boy killed after his pram was hit by a car have spoken of how their “hearts will always ache”.
Ciaran Leigh Morris died when a BMW crashed into a Ford B-Max before hitting his pram in High Street, Brownhills, at around 4pm on Sunday.
A 34-year-old man alleged to have been driving without insurance has now been charged with causing Ciaran's death.
The young boy was being pushed along the pavement by family at the time and suffered serious injuries when the pram was trapped between the BMW and a wall. He was rushed to hospital but nothing could be done to save him.
In an emotional tribute, Ciaran’s parents Camaron Morris and Codie Holyman said: “Mommy’s and Daddy’s hearts will always ache, we love you more than anything.
“We didn’t get to keep you for long but we are happy we had the chance to meet you, look after you and call you our son.
“Fly high angel.”
Both parents are 18 and Ciaran was their first born. They had posted messages on social media last month speaking of their joy following the birth.
Residents spoke of their shock in the aftermath of the crash, which came on a sunny Easter Sunday afternoon as the baby was being taken out for one of his first outings outdoors.
Sergeant Mark Crozier, from the serious collision investigation unit, said: "We’ve all been left numb by the sad death of Ciaran. He was just two-weeks-old and his life has been tragically taken away.
"To see the loss of someone so young is difficult for us as officers, but we know the pain is even greater for Ciaran’s family.
"We’ll be doing all we can to support them while also trying to establish what happened leading to the collision.
“I would ask people to please respect the family at this sad time and allow them the privacy to grieve."
Members of the public left flowers, toys and teddy bears at the site on Monday and launched a fundraiser to support Ciaran's family, which has already surpassed its initial target.
The fundraiser, which can be viewed here, had raised more than £5,000 from more than 400 donors by Monday evening after having an initial target of £2,000.
Officers are still keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and may have dash cam footage, either before or at the time of the collision.
A passenger from the BMW and the occupants of the Ford B-Max involved were said to be helping police with the enquiry.
