Police bash down a door as they execute drugs warrants in Telford

Officers found nearly 200 cannabis plants - with an estimated street value of around £100,000 - during the morning raids in Brookside at 7.32am on Monday.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said both men arrested - one aged 19 and the other 32 - have been charged with production of cannabis.

"Officers executed warrants at two addresses in Brookside at 7.32am yesterday.

"Ninety-five cannabis plants were discovered at an address in Blakemore, Brookside, and a 19 year old man was arrested.

"Approximately 100 cannabis plants were discovered at n address in Wyvern, Brookside, and a 32 year old man was arrested.

"Both men were charged with production of cannabis."

Police Sgt Rich Jones, posted pictures on Twitter showing officers bashing down the door of one property.

Sgt Jones said the raids were carried out "with the support of the community."

He said: "There were 200 plants seized from two addresses. Estimated value is around £100,000. The warrants were executed yesterday morning. Two males were arrested and have been charged and remanded to court."

In a tweet posted at 9.43pm on Monday (22) Sgt Jones said: "With the support of the community, South Telford Safer Neighbourhood Team have conducted warrants in Brookside and Woodside under the misuse of drugs."

West Mercia Police has been asked for more information.
