Man arrested and pedestrian rushed to hospital with 'serious injuries' after person hit by car

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a collision between a car and a pedestrian in Wellington yesterday.

The incident happened at the junction of Watling Street and Regents Street at around 3.30pm. An eyewitness described seeing at least six emergency services vehicles at the scene.

According to West Mercia Police, the driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and for drug driving. He has since been released under investigation
