'Moment of madness' drink-driving sees respected company manager get long ban from the road
A respected company manager faces the possibility of being sacked after being banned from driving for 22 months.
Noel Evans, aged 59, from Castle Street, Oswestry, pleaded guilty to driving a Toyota Hilux on Church Street, Oswestry, with 85 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, more than twice the legal limit of 35.
Joanne Fox, prosecuting, said a police officer saw Evans driving 'erratically' at 10.45pm by reversing in the middle of the road.
The officer sounded his siren to get Evans to stop and noticed a smell of intoxicants, slurred speech and glazed eyes, she said. Evans was also carrying a passenger in the vehicle, another aggravating factor.
Miss Fox said Evans had no previous convictions but had now lost his good character.
