Austin Reynolds, aged 45, lost his temper after finding out the victim - who he was not in a relationship with at the time - had been chatting to other people.

Shrewsbury Crown Court heard how the victim went to Reynolds' house and the pair had been spending time together before a row broke out.

An argument which started in the bedroom ended up in the kitchen. A "tussle" ensued and the victim found herself on the ground with a split lip, an injury to her hip and cuts after the oven door got smashed, leaving shards of glass "all over the floor".

In an impact statement read to the court by Olivia Appleby, prosecuting, Reynolds' victim said she "had to move away from Telford" because she felt "scared and threatened" after the incident, which took place in Telford on May 10, 2020.

"I had to uproot my life completely," she said.

"My relationships with my family and friends have been affected. I didn't know who to trust. I was so scared of Austin.
