Three year-plus ban for 'idiot' who crashed while drink-driving in Telford
A man who was taken to hospital after being involved in a head-on crash was found to have more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.
Phillip Anthony Taylor, aged 40, of Charlton, Telford, has been banned from driving for three years and four months after pleading guilty to having 195 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, when the limit is 80.
Telford Magistrates Court was told that Taylor had been driving a white Range Rover on Station Road, Telford, on March 25 when he was involved in a "head-on collision."
Joanne Fox, prosecuting, said an automatic call was made by the vehicle following the collision. When police arrived they found a head-on collision and Taylor was taken to hospital.
No more details of the crash were given in court. She said the case was aggravated by a previous drink drive offence in 2020.
Taylor, representing himself, said he suffered from bad anxiety and had been diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder.
