Justin Jones, aged 43, is accused of causing the death of 73-year-old Susan Leonora Beech after a crash on Halesfield 1 on December 16 last year.

Ms Beech was travelling in a Vauxhall Astra, which collided with a Renault Master Luton van. She was taken to Princess Royal Hospital in Telford but, despite the best efforts of medics, died on the same day.

Jones, of Barker's Court, Madeley, Telford, pleaded not guilty at Shrewsbury Crown Court to causing death by careless driving.

A provisional trial date was set for September 16 next year with a time estimate of five days. There will be a number of hearings in the interim to prepare for the trial.

Jones was granted unconditional bail.
