Charlie Quick, aged 29, could not accept it when his relationship ended, and began a stalking campaign lasting several months, before a bizarre episode where he brandished a sword in the middle of the road outside a pub in Oswestry.

Shrewsbury Crown Court heard how Quick sent the victim "disgusting" pictures of his private parts, threatened to kill her and turned up at her house, banging on the window in the early hours. On one occasion, when she was getting a lift to work with a colleague, he blocked her driveway and said she should go with him instead.

That campaign of abuse lasted from December last year until May this year.

Then in June, Quick took to the street in Shrewsbury Road, Oswestry, where he stood in the middle of the road, topless, brandishing a sword.
