Police appeal for witnesses after pedestrian left with life threatening injuries

The incident took place at around 2am on New Year's Day, on the A483 in Sweeney, Oswestry.

Police said that the pedestrian was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries and remains in a critical condition.

PC Mark Hobden urged anyone with information to come forward.

He said: “We are interested to speak to anyone who saw a woman walking along the A483 carriageway around the time of the incident or anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or has dashcam footage.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it had attended and the victim had been taken Royal Stoke University Hospital.

A spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a car and pedestrian near to the junction of the A495 and A483 at 2.01am on New Year’s Day.

"One ambulance, a paramedic officer, a MERIT trauma doctor with a Critical Care Paramedic and Critical Care Paramedic from North West Ambulance Service attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was the pedestrian.

"He was found to have suffered serious injuries in the collision and received specialist trauma care at the scene before being taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital."
