Telford school holds fun day to remember Khaleel
Cakes, a climbing wall and a bucking bronco were among the attractions at a fun day held by an academy school dedicated to pupil student Khaleel Khan, who died earlier this year.
Telford Priory School threw open its doors to the community on Saturday, holding a fun day for all ages.
The mayor of Telford and Wrekin, Councillor Stephen Reynolds, officially opened the day.
Councillor Reynolds, said the event at the school in New Road in Wrockwardine Wood had been a great success.
He said: "It was the Priory School's community fun day but the underlining theme of it was its dedication to Khaleel Khan.
"The school dedicated the fun day towards that, there was a lot going on, all good things and they were raising money in Khaleel's memory.
"A lot of the students had done cakes and enterprise stuff and raising every penny for Khaleel.
"An excellent day was had by all."
Khaleel’s friends and teachers were raising money throughout the day with stalls and challenges, in order to purchase a dedicated bench which will be placed at the school.
The 12-year-old died in July after a battle with leukaemia. All other funds raised on the day will go to supporting local cancer charities.
There was also variety of community stalls and groups attending including Donnington and Muxton Council, Asda Donnington, Casey’s Cordingley Hall, local primary schools, emergency services, Greenfields Farm Shop and the Exotic Zoo.
Visitors could try out a rodeo bull ride, a climbing wall, hear the TPS choir and join in with a Street Kings football session for free.
Visitors were also able to look around the school’s facilities which include a recording studio, 3G pitch, iMac suite, professional 300 seat theatre and dance studio.
