Harry Marshall, who is a year 8 pupil at Shrewsbury High Prep School, was awarded one of only three Butler Scholarships.

He will join Shrewsbury School in September.

Harry gained nine Alphas and one Beta in the entrance exam. His Beta result was in Advanced Maths, a topic that only eight of the 28 applicants sat.

Harry, who is currently a Hatfields Academic and Sports Scholar at Shrewsbury High Prep as part of their Senior Boys’ programme, is a very popular member of the school community.

Headteacher Kate Millichamp said: “Harry has worked so hard towards these exams and at every step of the way has been an enthusiastic and dedicated student and an absolute pleasure to teach. The Senior Boys programme here at Prep is designed to give all our pupils the support they need to realise their academic and all-round potential and Harry has given 100 per cent in every area of school life. We couldn’t be prouder of him and wish him every happiness for his future."
