Shrewsbury cafe owners banning single-use cups say 'we risk losing customers but must act now'
The owners of two coffee shops in Shrewsbury say they are "risking losing customers" by banning disposable cups, but insist we "must act now" to save the environment.
Stop. Cafe owners Mike and Nicola Dalton are ditching single use cups at their cafes in Shrewsbury due to feeling "overwhelmed by the magnitude" of environmental damage caused by plastic and single-use items, and wanting to "stop being part of the problem".
The initiative will be running at both their venues, in St Julian's Friars and at Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery in The Square.
Stop. Cafe was one of the first in Shrewsbury to be part of the Shrewsbury Cup scheme, which encourages customers to pay £1 for a re-usable cup and either give it back in return for their money back, or keep the cup and take it home.
