Green light for solar farm in 'beautiful' Shropshire countryside amid concerns over 'lack of communication'
A £26 million solar farm will be built in the south Shropshire countryside despite concerns over how it will impact a "beautiful" landscape.
The plan for the land south of Rocks Farm, at Rocks Green, near Ludlow, was debated for an hour and a half by Shropshire Council's southern planning committee on Tuesday.
Ludlow South councillor Viv Parry, who is not on the committee but attended to represent constituents, said she supported the idea of solar farms, but hoped this 56.62 hectare development could be moved 300m further away from the Grade II* listed Henley Hall and Grade II registered garden and deer park.
"This is one of the nicest and most impressive places I've ever been," Councillor Parry said of Henley Hall. "It helps the people in the area. They get lots of work from it.
"I'm not against solar farms. They are important. But it needs to be moved further back.
