Church Aston Parish Council was told that ‘lengthy discussions’ have been held with drainage engineers to try to get to grips with the regular flooding of gardens in the Wallshead Way area.
Telford & Wrekin Councillor Andrew Eade told a meeting of the parish counci on Monday that he organised a meeting between drainage engineers and residents on January 21.
“There were lengthy discussions,” Councillor Eade, (Cons, Church Aston & Lilleshall). He told the meeting that the landowners are involved in discussions over stopping the water running off the fields.

“Meetings will be held every month until the problems is solved,” said Councillor Eade. The next meeting will be held on February 18, he told the parish council.

The meeting was told that one of the issues involved is getting to grips with the local network of drains, and that work is progressing.

“This really needs to be sorted out by the end of this summer and we are approaching that point,” said Councillor Eade.

The meeting heard that the issue has been going on for four years.
“I look forward to seeing it sorted,” said Councillor Eade. “It will be good when it is.”
Councillor Andy Stokes, who is one of the residents whose garden regularly floods, said he was pleased to see action happening.
Councillor Stokes said his garden flooded four times around Christmas.
“I used to keep chickens but couldn’t teach them to swim,” he said after the meeting.
“I will have to keep ducks instead.”
