Letter: We all need to pay more for NHS

I genuinely wish this Prime Minister well. She has to face enormous problems left behind by David Cameron. However the wrecking of the NHS must be stopped.

Those members of the party who have a financial interest in the development of the highly profitable private healthcare system need to be named and then ignored. Even the stable middle class members of our society could be bankrupted without a good NHS. However we all need to be sensible about such an important part of our lives.

All healthcare is becoming increasingly expensive and must be paid for. Some fantasy funding from somewhere or other is nonsense. At the end of the day the bills have to be paid and we must be prepared to pay more.

Care of the sick and aged is a big part of this nightmare, causing bed blockage in hospitals. It seems that a growing number of GPs are getting fed-up with the chaotic political management that is keeping them from meeting many of the needs of their patients.

Junior doctors aren't fools and their opinions also need to be noticed. The piling up of suffering people at the A&E departments are real despite what our politicians would like us to think. For many the cost of good dental care is outside their budget.

Maternity care is also proving confusing and being poorly addressed. It is no good saying those 'poor' on benefits are cared for because many working can be worse off than they.

We have to provide the government with more money so that they can meet the problems in education, law enforcement, providing good housing for working people and other difficulties that those who come from the wealthy class know nothing of.

It is a pity but it will mean paying more in taxes and the management of such funds.

I do wonder if our MP, Mr Dunne of Ludlow, believes that the Government's provision for the NHS is so good that he and his family willingly use it.

Ian Collett, Ludlow
