Westbury Medical Centre had been rated as requiring improvement at a previous inspection in 2014.

However, when inspectors visited the practice in November they found it was now good in all areas.

Inspectors from the Care Quality Commission praised the way staff treated patients with compassion, dignity and respect.

The practice cares for 2,872 patients.

Inspectors found that the surgery was safe and had systems in place to safeguard children and vulnerable adults from abuse. The practice works with other agencies to support patients and carried out staff checks on recruitment and on an ongoing basis.

Medicine were found to be held in safe and secure environments as was prescription stationery.

Clinicians are kept up-to-date with current evidence based practice and the practice had a comprehensive programme of quality improvement activity. The effectiveness and appropriateness of the care provided was routinely reviewed and clinicians took part in local and national improvement initiatives.

Inspectors noted that staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles and worked together and with other health and social care professionals to deliver effective care and treatment.

They praised the staff for being consistent and proactive in helping patients to lead healthier lives and were encouraging and supportive.

In their report the inspectors said: "The practice understood the needs of its population and tailored services in response to those needs. Patients were able to access care and treatment from the practice within an acceptable timescale for their needs. The practice took complaints and concerns seriously and responded to them appropriately to improve the quality of care.

"There was a focus on continuous learning and improvement at all levels within the practice. Staff knew about improvement methods and had the skills to use them. Leaders and managers encouraged staff to take time out to review individual and team objectives, processes and performance."
