Junior Doctors on strike at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in April

The strike begins at 7am on Wednesday, and continues until 7am on Saturday, affecting all of the county's hospitals – Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, as well as community hospitals run by Shropshire Community Health Trust.

Dr Nick White, the chief medical officer at NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, said that it would be vital to ensure that the county's A&E departments are "kept clear" to allow people with life-threatening conditions or serious injuries to get the help they need.

He said: “The 72-hour strike will bring substantial challenges to the local NHS, particularly hospital services, and we are sorry that many patients will experience disruption to services.

“Partners across the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care Systems are working closely together to ensure those in greatest need continue to have access to high quality care and support.
