The report revealed that in 2021 and 2022, only 25 per cent of diabetes patients in the county received all of their care processes, compared to an average of 47 per cent in England.

In comparison to the pre-pandemic year of 2019 to 2020, the percentage of people receiving all eight care processes at ICB (integrated care board) level has decreased by 19.2 per cent.

The report states that the impact of the pandemic continues to be felt across the NHS, with services struggling to cope with the backlog alongside unprecedented demand and workforce shortages.

It says learning should be taken from areas where services have been able to recover and where the majority of people with diabetes received their checks.
