Nursing home residents at 'increased risk of harm' due to medicine management - inspector
A nursing home has been criticised by an inspector for putting residents at an "increased risk of harm" after "failing to ensure the proper and safe management of medicines".
Morris Care Centre, in Wellington, was re-visited by inspectors in July after an inspection earlier this year found that the home "requires improvement".
The Care Quality Commission said bosses completed an action plan after the last inspection to show what they would do and by when to improve.
“At this inspection we found the provider remained in breach of regulations,” said the inspecting body.
A "targeted inspection" was carried out following concerns about the safe administration of medicines and staffing levels.
The care home was found to "require improvement" in each of the three key areas which assessed if the service provided was safe, effective and well led.
At the time of the inspection there were 79 people being cared for including older people living with dementia, physical disabilities, learning disabilities or autistic people and younger adults.
