Welcome to this week's collection of nostalgia photos from the pages of the Shropshire Star.

This road junction will be familiar to drivers of today who pass through Much Wenlock, but at the time this picture was taken – April 7, 1970 – there was a lot of concern about it. This picture was used in the Shropshire Journal a few days later with a story which began: "Much Wenlock residents have called for action by Salop County Council after another accident on the busy junction of the A458 and the Church Stretton road. A petition from 51 residents is accompanied by a letter offering to meet county council representatives on the spot. Councillor Gordon Lamputt is championing the cause of the residents after an appeal from Mrs Violet Pearce, of 20 Havelock Crescent, who organised the petition. Mrs Pearce thinks that there will be a fatal accident at the junction unless action is taken by the county council."
