For generations the Salopian Stores run by the Chester family were something of an institution in Westbury, but by late 1985 the village shop on the corner of the Vennington road was a time capsule, having been closed for many years and with fading signage and old adverts in the window. After Harold Chester died his widow Georgina had given up the shop. However, the Salopian Stores lives on today after a fashion – its unchanged fixtures and fittings were bequeathed to the Ironbridge Gorge Museum and can now be seen in "Blakemore's shop" opened at the Blists Hill site in 2000.
