#helpLivhelp: Social media campaign launched in memory of tragic Shrewsbury schoolgirl Olivia-Violet Reeves
Family and friends of an 11-year-old Shrewsbury schoolgirl killed by a drink driver are launching a social media campaign asking people to do their bit to help save the planet.
Olivia-Violet Reeves died in June after she was hit by a car driven by Shrewsbury pensioner Roger Goodall as she walked to catch the bus home from school in Shrewsbury.
The bright, fun and caring girl, who lived in Worthen and was known to all as Liv, was a fierce conservationist and wanted to be a marine biologist when she grew up. She would often say that she was 'going to save all the oceans'.
The youngster, who attended St George's Junior School in Shrewsbury, would have celebrated her 12th birthday next month.
To coincide with this, her friends and family are running a social media campaign called #helpLivhelp - asking people to be the change that she wanted to be in the world.
Family friend and campaign organiser Tracey Morgan said: "By doing one small act we can help Liv save the oceans and there are many ways to help such as picking up litter, feeding the birds, making a wildlife area, recycling more, using less plastic, swapping from shower gel to soap, using biodegradable dog poo bags. The little things really can make a big difference.
"People can also encourage others to join in by posting their efforts on social media and use the hashtag #helpLivhelp - it really couldn’t be easier.
"We are calling upon people to support this initiative in Liv’s memory, local schools, businesses and the general public can help keep Liv’s memory alive whilst also helping Liv achieve her dream.
"WWF have created a special educational school pack for #helpLivhelp for any schools that would like to get involved.
"We would also love to hear from anyone that organises litter picks or manages wildlife gardens and might need help recruiting volunteers in March. The World Wildlife Fund received more than £1,700 raised by supporters, well-wishers at her funeral and pupils and staff at her school.
Tracey added: "People will also have the opportunity to help financially as we are raising money for WWF throughout March, a charity that was very close to Liv’s heart."
