River bursts its banks in Shrewsbury - with flood alerts around county
Heavy rainfall has led to the River Severn bursting its banks in parts of Shropshire - with a number of flood alerts in place for the county.
In Shrewsbury town centre, the tow path which runs alongside the river close to Theatre Severn and English Bridge is under several inches of water.
Chris Bainger from the Environment Agency tweeted: "Be flood aware around Shrewsbury. Rising river levels are now over the town path. It is very difficult to tell the difference between the bank edge and deep, fast water."
However, the Environment Agency has no plans to install flood barriers in Shropshire.
Dave Throup from the Environment Agency said it is not expected to flood but warnings have been issued.
He said: "There are no plans at the moment to put the flood barriers up in Shropshire. The levels are quite high further up the river but things could change. We've not has as much rain over the Welsh mountains."
Levels on the River Severn at Crew Green, Welsh Bridge, Buildwas, Montford and Bridgnorth were steady. The Rea Brook at Hookagate was falling slowly. The level at the Cound Brook at Boreton Bridge Gauge was steady. On the Severn Vyrnwy Confluence the level at the Llanymynech Gauge was 2.41 metres and falling slowly.
The level at the Maesbrook, Cae Howel and Crew Green Gauge was steady. The following roads could be affected by flooding Melverley Green to Maesbrook road, Cae Howel to Edgerley road, Ponthen to Cae Howel road, Melverley to Melverley Green road and Ponthen to Melverley road.
On the Tern and Perry confluence at Yeaton, Rodington and Walcot levels were steady.
On the River Teme and the River Corve the Leintwardine gauge was steady, while the gauge at Onibury was falling. The situation was the same on the River Corve, at Ludlow.
Gauges along the River Worfe at Shifnal, Cosford, Burcote and Burlington were steady.
