Police had 25 accidental 999 calls in six hours

Between midday and about 6pm on Sunday, the police received more than 25 999 calls that were accidental, and the control centre has now asked the public to be more mindful.

West Mercia Police Operations and Communications Centre tweeted saying: "Since midday we have dealt with over 25 999 calls that were 'accidental operation' - please be mindful and ensure your keypad is locked and also be careful if your kids are playing with your phone - these calls could prevent a genuine emergency call getting through."
