Woman and girl taken to hospital after crash in Bridgnorth

A woman was been cut free from a car and taken to hospital along with a young girl after a two-car crash in Bridgnorth.

Firefighters used cutting equipment to rescue the woman, in her 60s, who was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford with chest pains, along with the girl, a back seat passenger, who had lower back pain.

The Wolverhampton Road at Hermitage was blocked between the A454 and A442 Mill Street, on Wednesday afternoon, with motorists facing delays.

Four fire engines including an incident support unit and rescue tender were sent from Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock and Wellington Fire Stations.

An operations offer was also in attendance.

Crews were called at around 4.40pm.

Paramedics and West Mercia Police were also at the scene.
