One person cut free after crash near Bridgnorth

One person had to be cut free after a two-car crash in a village near Bridgnorth today.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the accident in Monkhopton at about 11.20am.

Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to release the casualty.

Paramedics and police officers were also in attendance following the crash.

Five fire engines from Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock and Wellington Fire Stations as well as an operations officer were in attendance.

A Shropshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "At 11.18am fire control received a call reporting that a road traffic collision had taken place in Bridgnorth.

"Three fire appliances including the rescue tender team were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock and Wellington.

"Crews used cutters to release the patient. The land ambulance service and the police were also in attendance. The casualty was left in the care of the ambulance service."

The condition of the casualty is not known.
