Emergency services were called to the A442 Mill Street just after 2pm today to reports of a collision involving two cars and a heavy goods vehicle.

One of the cars hit a post and two patients were taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford for treatment.

Murray MacGregor, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "A 52-year-old man had a wrist injury and pain down his arm and was mobilised, given pain relief and taken to the Princess Royal Hospital.

"The second patient is a 27-year-old male who was the front seat passenger in a different car.

"He managed to get out of the car himself. He was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital with lower back and left knee pain."

The road remained closed between Hermitage Hill and Allscott at 3pm.

Fire crews made the vehicles safe.

Earlier in the day a woman had to be cut free and taken to hospital after her car crashed with a lorry and ended up resting against a pub near Church Stretton.
