Perry & Phillips Auctioneers, of Mill Street, Low Town, will hold its final sale on October 23.

The current saleroom was founded during the 1980s but the original Perry & Phillips company can trace its origins as far back as the 1800s.

“We are sad to announce that our October sale will be our last,” said Perry & Phillips auctioneer John Ridgway.

“Perry & Phillips Auctioneers is an old and highly-respected local business and the decision to close has not been taken lightly.

“The time has come for myself and other members of our Mill Street team to concentrate on our associated business, the Old Mill Antiques Centre which continues to attract customers from all over the country and overseas.

Privilege

“Following the death of my two brothers, Denis and Philip, who were both integral to the running of the saleroom, I have decided not to continue alone but to channel all my time into the antiques centre, which will be staying open.

“We have had some wonderful sales over the years – the selling of a Scrimshaw walking cane for £46,000 was a real highlight – and we have met some amazing buyers and sellers along the way.

“I would like to thank everyone who has supported Perry & Phillips over the years, it has been a privilege to work with you all.”

The final auction of antiques and collectables on October 23 will begin at 10.30am and viewing will be during the weekend and on the Monday prior to the sale.
