One taken to hospital after crash on busy road

A motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital following a crash on a main road.

Emergency teams were called to Bridgnorth Road, Shipley, following the crash involving a motorbike and a car.

The air ambulance touched down on the main route connecting Wolverhampton and Bridgnorth and the injured biker was flown to hospital. Police said his injuries were not thought to be serious.

Two off-duty police officers raised the alarm after coming across the smash. Off-duty paramedics and a nurse also delivered first aid.

Staffordshire Police Response said on Twitter: "Never off duty. Two Staffs Police officers came across an RTC in Shipley prior to any other emergency services. Off-duty Paramedics and nurse also administering first aid. Fortunately no serious injury."
