Police Community Support Officer Mike Watkins and member of the public rescued Polly the pig in Much Wenlock.

Yesterday, police received a number of telephone calls from concerned members of the public reporting that they had seen a pig on the A458 in the town.

PCSO Watkins attended the scene and with the assistance of several members of the public, he managed to rescue Polly the pig and get her safely confined in a garden.

The pet pig's owner was contacted and will soon reunite Polly with their five other pet pigs.

Broseley and Much Wenlock Safer Neighbourhood Teams said thanks to the members of the public who gave their assistance.
