The car was the only vehicle involved in the accident on a tight bend as it drove through Bourton on the B4378.

A member of the public called the police to report the accident on Wednesday evening and went to help the driver, who was uninjured, although the car was badly damaged after rolling onto its side.

Police arrived and traffic management was put in place to keep the road open while the vehicle was recovered but its position made the work difficult and the decision was taken to temporarily close the road to allow the recovery to take place.

All of the officers present from Broseley and Much Wenlock Safer Neighbourhoods Team, plus a passing member of the public, and the recovery truck driver combined their strength to push the vehicle back onto its wheels.

Once the car was righted, it was swiftly recovered and taken away.

There had been a spill of fluids from the vehicle, so staff from Shropshire Council highways department attended to the scene to make the road safe for traffic.

The road was then fully reopened.
