The 19-year old from Montgomery has not been seen since he left the White Horse pub in the town in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman Alana Perrin said: “A body has been found in Builth Wells this afternoon during the search for missing James Corfield.

“The body has not been formally identified at this time. The family have been made aware of the development and are being supported by a Family Liaison Officer.

“Dyfed-Powys Police would like to thank the public for their continued support.”

The Brecon Beacons Mountain Rescue Team said the body was recovered from a deep pool in the River Wye.

James was reported missing shortly before 2pm on July 25 when he didn’t return to meet his family at the Royal Welsh Show. He had been camping with friends at the Royal Welsh Showground during the show.

James's disappearance sparked a massive search and outpouring of offers of help from his friends and members of the community.

Yesterday about 1,000 people gathered in Montgomery to show their support for the search for missing teenager and for his family.

The group met outside Montgomery Town Hall at 11am on Saturday.

Wearing blue, the group were asked not to continue searching for him and to leave it to specialists by police.

Montgomery Cricket Club, for whom James was the star player, cancelled this weekend’s fixtures. A statement from the club said Saturday’s matches against Cound and Ludlow Cricket Clubs had been called off.

Montgomeryshire MP, Glyn Davies, knows the Corfield family and said he was at the cricket last week watching his own son.

"I was watching James play - an extremely talented cricketer," he said.

"They are a really popular family, very well liked and involved in the community. James's disappearance has touched the hearts of so many people and the amount who were in Montgomery on Saturday showed just how much people wanted to do something to show their support.

"This development is desperately sad and everyone's thoughts will be with the family. It is every parent's nightmare."
