Woman who died after falling into river had just wrapped grandchildren's Christmas presents
A grandmother died after falling into a river shortly after wrapping Christmas presents for her grandchildren, an inquest heard.
Susan Walker, 71, lived at Walk Mill in Chirbury, near the Shropshire/Welsh border with husband Laurence.
The inquest of retired IT director Mrs Walker heard that she grew concerned over the rising levels of the River Camlad, due to its close proximity to their house, and it is likely she went out late at night to check on December 23 last year.
An extensive search for her was carried out after Mr Walker realised she was gone, and it involved the fire service, police and sniffer dogs.
Mrs Walker's body was sadly found in the river on Boxing Day by neighbour Kevin Geddes.
Shropshire Coroner's Court at Shirehall heard that Mrs Walker was happy, had been getting ready for Christmas, and there was "no evidence to suggest" that her death was deliberate.
John Ellery, senior coroner for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, recorded a conclusion of accidental death.
