The bands will bring their classics from the noughties to Llanfest at the International Pavilion in Llangollen on Sunday July 7, which brings an end to the week long festival that attracts 50,000 people to the North Wales town.

It will be the first chance indie fans will get to see the two bands in North Wales this year, with the Wirral-based Coral playing their renowned classics Dreaming of You and In The Morning, and the The Fratellis expected to bring tracks from their back catalogue including Chelsea Dagger and Whistle For The Choir.

Indie rockers Pigeon Detectives and power pock rock trio, Dodgy are also on the line-up for Llanfest, which was introduced to the festival in recent years.

Following the announcement, The Coral frontman, James Skelly, said: “We can’t wait to be a part of a festival which brings together musical talent from all over the world, and in such a beautiful location in North Wales.

“We’re really excited to join such a brilliant line-up for Llanfest 2019, to come together with other artists to support the ethos of global peace at a festival is something quite special. It’s going to be one of those stand-out summer gigs for sure”.

The announcement follows on from recent appearances from the Kaiser Chiefs in 2018 and legendary Welsh band Manic Street Preachers in 2017.

Tickets will go on sale on February 1, and this year additional standing area has been made available, with the capacity increased to around 5,200 in the pavilion.

Music Director of the festival, Edward-Rhys Harry, added: “Llanfest was introduced to spread this message to a wider audience, by bringing new and more contemporary music genres to the festival, while still remaining true to its traditional values.

“The Fratellis and The Coral are the perfect mix of two iconic bands whose upbeat indie rock hits resonate across generations. The day is certain to bring thousands together to enjoy a high energy finale to our 2019 festival.”
