Welshpool residents warned about fly-tipping
Residents are being warned council staff will be looking inside rubbish bags left dumped in the streets in a bid to track down the culprits.
The sacks of fly-tipped waste have been found on the streets of Welshpool and left dumped next to litter bins.
It comes following a recent spate of fly-tipping incidents in the town, and now councillors are looking to introduce arming staff with body cameras, in an effort to tackle the problems by gathering evidence which will lead to prosecutions.
in a post on Facebook, Robert Robinson, town clerk to Welshpool Town Council, said: "People are leaving black bags out with household waste in them on the streets and by the litter bins, this is fly tipping, please use your bins and Powys doorstep collection service.
"So everyone knows, we will be looking inside bags for identification and will be seeking to stop this practice."
Last month, nearly 50 bags of fly-tipped rubbish were found dumped behind Welshpool Town Hall and in the Foundry Lane area of the town.
While in another disgusting incident only days earlier, more than 20 bags filled with dog poo were found hanging from a tree along the canal at the end of the playing fields, near the Flash Leisure Centre in the town.
