Market Drayton care home rated outstanding by inspector
A care home in Market Drayton has been rated as outstanding by inspectors from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Woodcroft, in Croft Way, Market Drayton, was said to provide outstanding care and emotional support by inspectors.
The home, which looks after up to 50 people, some with dementia, was said to be safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
Woodcroft is run by the not-for-profit organisation Coverage Care.
Maggie Hannelly, CQC head of inspection for adult social care in the central region, said: “Our inspection team was very impressed by the level of care and support offered at Woodcroft.
“We found this service provided outstanding care and emotional support to people. The registered manager and staff were exceptionally caring and encouraged people to do well in achieving their goals.
“Staff demonstrated a real empathy for the people they cared for. The service's visions and values promoted people's rights to make choices and live a dignified and fulfilled life, this was reflected in the care and support that people received."
Activities
Ms Hannelly said the needs of people were put first.
“There was a strong recognition that people were individuals and the care and support provided ensured their needs were met," she said. "People received a service that was extremely responsive and person-centred.
“Staff worked extremely hard to find ways to ensure people were engaged and stimulated. Activities were meaningful and people were provided with choice and opportunities dependent on their needs or interest.
“The service worked in a way that put the needs of people first. Care plans were informative and reflected people's likes and dislikes in detail, and all staff knew every person they cared for, what was important to them and the best way to provide their care.
“Without exception people, their relatives and professionals told us they experienced compassionate care from staff.
“All of this meant people received a high standard of care, which is why it has been rated outstanding.”
Woodcroft manager Kelly Lowry said: “Our aim is to deliver a home from home environment where residents are respected and receive the highest standard of care possible.
“One of the most gratifying things to read in this report were comments from inspectors, the residents and relatives about the compassion of our team.
"We are delighted to be one of just a few ‘outstanding’ homes in Shropshire and will carry on working hard to deliver the best care.”

Under CQC’s programme of inspections, all adult social care services are given a rating according to whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
Woodcroft has been given an overall rating of outstanding. It is rated as good for being safe, effective and well-led. It is rated as outstanding for being caring and responsive.
