Everything you need to know about the Freedom Parade taking place in Market Drayton this weekend

A 'Freedom Parade' is taking place this weekend to commemorate 100 years of Market Drayton's Royal British Legion.

The legion branch has been granted the freedom of the town, the highest honour which can be bestowed by the town council, to mark the charity's centenary anniversary.

The event will take place this Saturday, September 9, from 2pm, featuring a performance by The Silver Buglers of The Light Infantry Association and a flyover by the two remaining Avro Anson Aircrafts.

The Parade will be led by Wellington Brass Band from Church Street to Market Drayton's War Memorial for an official presentation and service.

Ian Nellins, Shropshire Council's divisional councillor for Market Drayton West and Armed Forces Champion, said: “It is great honour for the RBL to be granted the freedom of Market Drayton.
