Car destroyed in blaze after leaving the road near Oswestry

A car caught fire after it left the road on the A5 south of Oswestry.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Weirbrook just after 4.30pm on Monday.

Two fire crews, from Oswestry and Ellesmere, brought the fire under control wearing breathing apparatus to deal with the fierce blaze.

A spokesperson for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said that no one had been trapped in the car which had left the carriageway. Everyone was accounted for.

The car was completely destroyed in the fire.
