Air ambulance scrambled as crash closes road north of Oswestry
Two patients were taken to hospital following a one-vehicle crash on the Ruabon bypass north of Oswestry.
The road was closed between Ruabon and Wrexham with local diversions put in place.
A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said they sent a duty operations manager, a senior paramedic and two emergency ambulances to the scene after the crash was reported to them on Sunday morning. The Welsh Air Ambulance was also scrambled to the scene.
The ambulance service spokesman said two patients were transferred by land ambulance to Wrexham Maelor Hospital but their condition is not being revealed. The ambulance service left the scene at 1.25pm.
At about 2.10pm Traffic Wales North & Mid reported that all congestion was clear. Police and the fire service had also been notified and a local diversion was put in place at the A483 Southbound J1 Ruabon due to a southbound closure.
AA Traffic news said that the road was closed and there was queueing traffic due to a crash on A483 southbound from J2 B5426 (Johnstown) to J1 A539.
There was also congestion to J3 (Croesfoel) according to AA Traffic News.
They added that the incident was first reported at 10.51am and at about 1pm on Sunday routes through Johnstown were also slow due to traffic diverting.
The northbound carriageway has reopened after briefly being held.
