The West Ham and England player has shown off the tattoos, a thick black band around his upper right forearm and a smaller one near his wrist, in an Instagram post.

Hart used the post to thank Shrewsbury artist Hanumantra Lamar for the work.

The post was accompanied by the message: “Great to go back to Shrewsbury and get some world class body art @hanumantra Awesome work #kaammoonnnn.”

Other famous footballers have also been seen sporting similar tattoos, including Paulo Dybala of Juventus, Sergio Ramos of Real Madrid, Dutch star Wesley Sneijder and former Chelsea player Oscar.

Hanumantra specialises in large-scale blackwork tattoos which are said to work carefully with the form of the body to create powerful and impactful pieces.

In a promotion for an exhibition which featured his work earlier this year Hanumantra explained some of the ethos behind his work.

He said: “Blackwork is a tattoo choice, it’s a lifestyle and it’s a philosophy, believing that less really is more and understanding that we should not be afraid to stand out in a world full of people who are trying to fit in.”
