Firefighters rescue trapped horse near Shrewsbury - with pictures
These are the dramatic moments a stricken horse was rescued from a ditch and hauled back on to its feet by specialist firefighters.
The river rescue crew from Wellington were called to Yockleton, near Shrewsbury, and used a hoist to rescue the 22-year-old horse.
Three fire engines were called out at about 9.30am on Sunday.
With support from a vet, it took firefighters about an hour-and-a-half to rescue the horse.
A Shropshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "At 9.30pm on Sunday we received a call reporting an incident classified as animal rescue in Shrewsbury.
"Three fire appliances including the rescue tender team were mobilised from Shrewsbury.
"An operations officer and a vet was in attendance. One horse was successfully rescued using specialist equipment."
