Shrewsbury Town Council has installed new features to the park ready for its reopening in the coming weeks.

The council said it has been receiving a number of requests about the park as the weather has been so hot recently.

The post on the council' social media said: "The weather is fantastic at the moment and as a result, we're getting a number of enquiries about when the Shrewsbury Town Council Quarry Splash Park is going to be reopened.

"We're planning to open it at the start of next month in time for the May Day bank holiday weekend.

"We need to make sure that all the equipment works well after having been in storage for the winter months, that it has a good clean and that our staff have refresher training before we can re-open it.

"We'll publicise it via our social media platforms as well as issuing a press release to make sure that everyone is aware of the new season opening date.

"We have also installed new features for this summer.

"We're aware of the good weather forecast for this week, but we are unable to open it before our scheduled date."
