Flash floods in Shrewsbury as rain batters town centre - WATCH
Drains in Shrewsbury and Newport couldn't cope with the short sharp deluge.
Shrewsbury became the latest victim of this week's storms when a torrential downpour battered the town on Friday.
Within minutes of the first drops pounding the pavement several roads looked more like rivers as shoppers fled to nearby stores.
Videos posted on social media showed water rushing around the town centre, with Frankwell one of the worst affected areas.
In Coleham water was around 2ft deep within an hour and firefighters soon shut off the road next to the mini roundabout at Coleham Head.
The rain started as much of the county, including Telford, basked in warm sunshine at around 3pm.
At Marks & Spencer on Castle Street rain was seeping through the ceiling and onto the shop floor, while water was flowing rapidly down Wyle Cop.
And the Loopy Shrew pub and restaurant in Bellstone had to temporarily suspend food orders due to the heavy rain.
The kitchen, cellars and offices had flooded after the storm, forcing the kitchen to close.
The downpour had eased off in Shrewsbury by 4pm but later hit Newport, where roads soon filled with water.
It comes after around 20 homes were damaged when rain hit south Shropshire with a similar short sharp blast on Thursday evening.
The A49 was closed overnight and a car was almost completely submerged near Church Stretton as drains struggled to cope with the deluge.
A yellow severe weather warning for rain is in place across Shropshire and Mid Wales until 8pm on Friday.
