Group take on Three Peaks Challenge for charity
A group of business advisors from Shrewsbury raised £2,500 for charity by taking on the Three Peaks Challenge.
A team of five from business advisory firm Baldwins on London Road, Shrewsbury, successfully completed the challenge in under 24 hours to raise more than £2,500 for Prostate Cancer UK.
Tim Doyle, Stuart Rhodes, Sukhi Bhakar, Matthew Dodd and Kinnery Patel took on the challenge – which requires participants to climb Snowdon in Wales, Ben Nevis in Scotland and Scafell Pike in England – successfully finishing three minutes inside of their 24 hour target.
The group was supported by Asset Surfacing and Construction Limited which provided a mini bus, with Baldwins colleagues Anita Hammond and Sally Taylor driving the group across the UK.
The money raised will help fund further research into prostate cancer, as well as new methods of diagnosis and treatments.
Mr Doyle said: “We started training for this challenge three months ago – which included climbing the Wrekin, Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Cadair Idris to help build up our stamina – and I am very proud of our team’s achievement.
“We chose to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK as it is a cause that is close to home after a family member of one of our colleagues recently passed away because of the illness, so we wanted to make a difference and raise awareness of the work being done to battle prostate cancer.
“It was a fantastic 24 hour team building session that offers a great sense of personal achievement, and I would thoroughly recommend it to other work forces.”
