Daniel Kawczynski has repeatedly stressed concerns over the project on the town's most popular shopping street, and will meet with contractor Casey's bosses face-to-face to seek reassurance.

He said: "We are going to look at the progress to date as we are all extremely concerned with the way in which this has been implemented.

"Our patience is running out with them at the moment, unless we see significant progress we will have to be taking up measures."

The works to Pride Hill are to lay new stone setts and install street furniture, planters and new lighting.

It is part of the £12 million integrated plan that has seen projects carried out across Shrewsbury including at Meole Brace roundabout and on the English Bridge, Abbey Foregate and Gyratory.

Work began on Pride Hill in April. The current phase to the top of the street is due to end in early October and the work will then move to the bottom half of Pride Hill.
