One person rescued from River Severn in Shrewsbury

One person was rescued from the River Severn in Shrewsbury today.

First responders were sent to Frankwell Quay to reports of someone in the water.

The team, from Shropshire Fire and Rescue, located and helped the person, who was then released into the care of West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Neil Griffiths, Shropshire Fire and Rescue group manager, tweeted about the rescue, using the hashtag #todaywemadeadifference.

"Shropshire Fire and Rescue successful carried out by our on call water first responders and boat crew from Shrewsbury fire station," he wrote.

"Person now in care of West Midlands Ambulance Service."
