Andrew Hill is an associate editor and management editor at the Financial Times and studied at Shrewsbury School from 1978 to 1983. He will be at the University on Monday (10), and will be exploring if business can do well by doing good.

The event at Guildhall, Frankwell Quay, will start at 1pm and is free to attend, but booking is essential.

Paul Kirkbright, deputy provost of University Centre Shrewsbury, said: “Andrew writes a weekly column on business strategy and management, and his book ‘Leadership in the Headlines’ was published two years ago.

“We are delighted he has been able to contribute to our calendar of lectures and is sure to prove a popular and interesting speaker.

“The subject of his lecture is ‘Can Business Do Well By Doing Good? Victorian Values, 21st Century Demands and the Future of Capitalism’.

“It promises to be a wide-ranging discussion and one that should be well attended.”

Andrew joined the Financial Times in 1988 and has worked in various roles for the paper, including Editor of the daily Lombard column on British business and finance, financial editor, comment and analysis editor, New York bureau chief, foreign news editor and correspondent in Brussels and Milan.

His next book ‘Ruskinland: How John Ruskin Shapes Our World” will be published in early 2019.
