Future Shrewsbury college students urged to apply despite lockdown
Future students at Shrewsbury Colleges Group can still apply ahead of the September term and do their interviews on the phone.
Even though the group's three campuses are closed due to lockdown restrictions, it is still taking applications and holding interviews.
Principal James Staniforth said: “Despite the fact we can’t meet with prospective students in the friendly face-to-face fashion we would all like at the moment, our application and interview processes for A-levels, vocational and degree-level courses remain largely the same.
“Prospective students for all our courses can still apply online via that course on our website, and interviews will take place over the phone either with course teachers or members of our dedicated admissions team, and offers given. It is also the perfect chance to ask questions about your chosen course and college life.
“If you’re concerned about your A-level or GCSE results, don’t be. We are working with the exam boards and will continue to be able to offer and uphold places on the basis that results will be given.
“Although this is a worrying time for young people, or people wanting to continue their education and change careers, we want to reassure those people that they are the absolute priority for us and we have staff working remotely and diligently across the College, from teachers to support staff to make sure their education continues come September.
“We can still offer the same advice and guidance regarding all courses, student support such as finance and travel, enrichment opportunities and information about life here at Shrewsbury Colleges Group. We keep in touch with our applicants regularly to offer support and guidance and will provide updates on events such as the pre-enrolment dates due to take place at the end of June/start of July.”
