Volunteers are needed for the Coleham Primary School safe street scheme

Coleham Primary School in Shrewsbury is the first to run the scheme, which will involve Greyfriars Road being closed to traffic during the time children arrive and leave.

Now the school is looking for helpers next week to make sure things run smoothly. The scheme starts on Monday, November 30.

A Belle Vue and Coleham Community Action Group spokesman said: "Volunteers urgently needed, please can you help?

"Can you spare an hour or two between 8am and 9am or 2.30pm and 3.30pm for a few days to navigate the new 'school street' scheme?

"We are committed to assist Coleham Primary School, West Mercia Police, Councillor Kare Halliday and Shropshire Council with this new traffic management scheme to make things safer for our children and our school."

If you can help, email the group at info@bccag.org.uk
