The well-known pair were at Shrewsbury Prison in early December, filming for the third series of Sky One series Brassic.

In the trailer, Gilgun, of Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Misfits fame, is shown being released from his cell and collecting his belongings before being released.

Fellow ex-Corrie actress Keegan was also in town to film scenes outside the facility. The series is expected to be released later this year, and viewers will be able to see more glimpses of the actors in Shrewsbury.

Paige Merrick, sales and marketing assistant at the prison, said: "They were only here for two shooting days at the start of December. It was all quite strict because of Covid regulations so only certain people were allowed in.

"We didn't get to see much of them but we did have a brief chat with Joe and he was lovely. We got a small preview of the outside scenes."

Asked if there were any more exciting filming projects in the pipeline at the prison, Paige teased: "I couldn't possibly say. Shrewsbury is one of the best locations for filming in a prison. Directors love it."

Brassic was co-created by Gilgun and Danny Brocklehurst, and follows the lives of Vinnie O'Neill and his five friends as they live their lives in the fictional northern English town of Hawley.

The working class group commit various crimes to keep money in their pockets, but as they get older some of them start to wonder if there's more to life away from the town.
